Oops and I’m changing too.
I spoke too soon in my last column. The News Press did end up printing my letter. The first time in five years.
I have so much to write about that I can’t get myself started. The old deer in the headlights thing. First of all I’d like to say that this website was never intended to be political. I have a number of novels I’m working on and have friends with books we’ll be adding to the site. All along my intention was to market the books and inform other writers with the experience I’ve had so they don’t make the same mistakes. And, to hopefully motivate a little. Being a writer has never been easy. Even in the “old” days when you could go directly to a publishing house and they might have even looked at your manuscript if you were lucky to get pulled off the slush pile. Then it went to where only agents could get their attention. Now, you’re lucky if you can get the agent’s attention. These truths can be a morale buster. You have to write for yourself. If you’re really good, take the craft serious, and are willing to bust your ass to promote yourself, you might sell a couple books.
Enter Print on Demand. The times have truly changed. You can now write a book, print it yourself, stare at the finished product and pat yourself on the back. You have a book! Now what do you do with it? Market, market, market. More on this later.
I want to first switch back to something else. I’m starting up a new website called, and I thought long and hard about this, HenrySchulte.com. That will be where I can comfortably vent my political views. I’ll let you all know when it’s up and running. In the meantime I’ll continue to throw out a few things here.
Back to the deer in the headlights thing. I have no idea where to begin. Obama is proving he hasn’t a clue what he’s doing. His administration is throwing so much stuff out there it’s becoming a whirlpool of experimental plans. An analogy would be, if you say one lie, we all know it leads to another and another until finally there are so many lies you’ve lost the truth. Or, maybe a better analogy is when you gamble your allotted hundred bucks and you lose it, then you decide to chase it with another bucks and lose it, then you chase it with…you get the idea. It doesn’t work, and that’s what is happening in our country.
We may have gone through some rough times, but the private sector would have eventually corrected itself, and it probably still will. But the debt and government intervention we’ve allowed to occur is beyond anything the founding fathers could ever have imagined. What a mess.
